Emotion Displays
Externally there are many ways to display emotions, an important example is the displayer use movements especially hands to communicate familiar or prearranges signals which is called facial expressions (Van Der Schalk, Hawk et al. 2011, Jack, Sun et al. 2016) hands or body to emphasize feeling (Atkinson, Dittrich et al. 2004) (Dael, Mortillaro et al. 2012, Cowen, Elfenbein et al. 2019).
A person can disclose
his emotions in form of writing comments like an idea posted on some platforms
of social media or can use both a computer and mobile to express his or her
emotions through Emoji,(Cheshin, Rafaeli et al. 2011) in this practice the
presence of displayer is not important and can do this activity while absent,
this kind of emotional display will be perceived same as like displaying your
emotions in the form of the face and body expression (A. Van Kleef 2017) yet, we have authority
whether or not they are judged inappropriateness based on the outcomes we
received.
Inappropriateness
Naturally, we as a human do experience the emotions indirectly based on our judgment of when and how the organization or individual interpret it, if you want to say something according to your perception is good it may seem different to others when they give more importance to the way you present an idea or the time my not suitable to discover this idea, which in turns makes inappropriate (Shields 2005).
If a person displays his emotions in an inappropriate way that person might seem, outlaw, mean like someone who goes against the rules, there is a rule which based on culture, religion or set by an institution which needs to follow, a person who displays emotions in a way that is different from the norm may be treated like outlaws (Jaggar and Bordo 1989)
A manager who expresses his anger to his employer to challenge their wrongdoing in terms of wasting time to relax or not serving the customers as they want, observers from the organization will evaluate the result of that anger, they will realize that anger was more negative which leads bad road or more positive which is more profitable both in the reputation of the company plus it is profitable, the Dual Threshold Model of Anger.
When we are talking about emotion it is either to feel a displayed emotion or yourself express emotion to individuals that are dealing with you, as the theory of Emotion as Social Information (EASI) Affective route; which focuses the outcome of expressed emotions on emotions of other individuals and prepares a process to know the emotional contagion (Barsade 2002), in this part displayer expresses his or her emotion and then experiencing the responses comes from individuals (Hareli and Rafaeli 2008), inferential rout; give important to the impact of presented emotions on other individuals by evaluating both the situation or the mood of the displayer (Hareli and Hess 2010), this research suggests that inferential is coming from the inappropriate time which displayer expresses an emotion or it might display emotions when the situation is inappropriate.
Outcomes of Inappropriate Emotional Displays
Communication between the employer and the
consumer is difficult to monitor, the employer puts his energy to satisfy the
customer by any means and to keep the reputation of the organization alive but
the outcome or the response comes from the customer differ, for example,
Employer express emotion which he thinks it is good for him when it comes to
promotion plus it is also good for the organization when it comes to reputation
but the way that employer display his emotion was inappropriate,
misunderstanding creates and the outcome from the consumer will be against the
willing outcome or the target of both the displayer and the organization
(Hareli and Rafaeli 2008).
